I am going to be pulling the trigger on this engine soon. However I have a couple of questions. I plan on using an AOD tranny but I'm not sure which company or setup I should use? I know that I must have at least a 2000 stall converter. I also am unsure of what rear-end setup I should use, right now I just have the stock 8". Would it be wise to just rebuild the 8" or use completely different rear-end.
Here is the link to the engine: http://www.smedingperformance.com/ford/427+Windsor+460+Horsepower.html
The car is a 1967 Mustang Coupe

510 foot pound of torque is going to take one hell of an AOD to handle it. I would look into atleast a 4R70 and a 9 inch or 8.8
Also, for $9,995 even at full dress you can build a much nicer performing engine in my opinion.

If you are set on that engine, which I know you can build more for less, then atleast get a built 4R70W and either have an 8.8 modified or run a 9 inch.

I am no way set on that engine. Originally I wanted to go EFI for drive ability and to be able to drive anywhere. I want to be able to be able to drive it hard but be able to go anywhere at the same time

Please listen to Dan. He been around the block a few time. A 427 should be making 600+ bhp on 91 pump. Hell my 354ci makes 430whp, that was with a pos converter, and 8.5 to 1 comp, all on 91 piss gas..
