hopefully you guys can give me more input on these two transmissions.
Im currently building my 69 and im debating if i should tko600 or t5z behind my 392w stroker (450hp/400ishtq), I won't be Drag racing it with slicks, I prefer to autocross and road race. rear end gears will probably be 3:55's.
I have herd good and bad about the t5z's, some say they go boom behind strokers & tko's are hard to shift. I know my 69 tends to be on the heavy side of the classics but Im needing some input.
I've been debating this for about a year... lol

I run a t5z. No issues yet, I don't launch it hard though. It's handling the power fine WOT.

are you running a 351w aswell? I know 351w tend to have more torque...especially if you stroke them.

I run a 393w with 10lbs boost. If I didn't have the t5 already though I would get a tko600.

Here you go they make tko's that are plug and play for our years, just alittle over 4500 for fully loaded all options, and no cutting i believe. That what i want for my 70 with a 408w; 3.90...someday....

I wanted their trans, but ppl complained that it was a 1 year wait, which I think is crazy...not only that people have complained about getting the wrong parts and some of the parts not looking "new" so that was a red flag for me.
I might go with moderndriveline, I cannot afford a brand new tko600. a friend of mine just took out his t5z for a t56 so I might just buy that and run with it. I just need a good clutch.

I've had both, the 600 was behind a H/C/I 306 on spray and handled the power just fine but I will say its a VERY notchy and not very smooth trans to shift gotta man handle it alot more than any t5...I also had a t5z in my 357w notch and loved it hands down..100+ 1.6/1.5 60ft mid 11 second passes leavin off 6k rev limiter an never lifting one time during my runs lol never gave me an issue at all!! Not to mention the diff in cost...Very stout trans but I was only making maybe 360 rw but beat the shit outta it like I made 600rw lol..good luck in your decision

Modern Driveline set up two TKO600's for friend's cars and set them up with carbon fiber blocker rings. Both shift like butter. You wouldn't know it wasn't a T5 unless I told you. Maybe I got lucky but I call B.S. that all the TKO's are notchy. I would definitely go with a Modern Driveline TKO600.
