Thinking about a HCI 351w was wondering how long a t5 with a CFDFC would live behind that with racing and daily driving being the usual. Should I invest in a t5z? It will help at all a tko or what?? Thanks cafords

How much horsepower are you shooting for, I'm at aroung 475 on my 347 and my tremic t-5 is holding fine(knock on wood) with 5000 launches and shifting at 7000, but i been glancing at the g-force t-5 set up's and they seem good for up to 600hp. or you can go c-4. I already have a c4 maybe that can stay for a while no? But efi 351 is the direction I'm heading. If not ill pick up a explorer motor like my uncle Dan keeps saying to do.

The c4 would be nice with a ratchet shifter and nice TC and maybe a shift kit. It would definitely be a runner.

a "z" wont really be any better
better yes, but to buy one for that reason ...no
contrary to popular belief, a t5 is pretty strong. hard launch is what will kill them, as well as powershifting. my '89 had the original t5 in it and after seriously driving the car hard all the time it still shifted and worked fine when it got stolen
by "hard" i mean a 12.50 car launching on nitrous and no lift shifts, basically every weekend for 4 years
i kept my launches under 3500, and i used cheater slicks
you "should" break an axle b4 you break the t5
but driving style is everything here. if your going to go new t5z....save for the tko IMO

tko or t56
Bob had a wonder T5 and so did Herman who went 10s with his.
All of mine on the other hand didnt handle 12.2 runs very long at all.
