I talked to 2 well-known tuners and they both said 8.5:1 cr which I feel it to low for a vortech. I know with a twin screw 8.5:1 cr is perfect CR with that high of boost while MMR said 9.5:1 cr would be good with a built motor. I'm confuse which to go with.

Well, the higher boost you run, the hotter inlet air temps will be, unless you use meth injection, air to air intercooler, air to water intercooler or NOS to help bring it down, that's why I say run higher compression and low boost. It's all about octane and timing curve to make it work.

My cousin (sonic96gt) had this same dilema... He got his rotating assembly from MMR and I believe they decided on a 9-something CR. He has a centrifugal blower as well. Contact him for the entire rundown. My memory is sketch since I'm a pushrod guy.

Yeah i see what you are saying and i would go this route if we had 93 octane on pump but we have crappy 91 and i dont feel like spending $6.00 a gallon for better fuel everytime i take it for a ride.

Well I dont know 4.6s but this is how I look at it, it all depends on what HP you are trying to make and the limits of your power adder. It would help if you gave more info on your build. I like not too max out my power adder to make my goal, and if the blower setup doesn't make good power on the low end then I would like a high compression motor.

its cheaper than regular gas, and rated close to 100 octane and runs way cleaner then gas only down fall is theirs only 2 gas stations in the east bay that has it lol on W. Ast

Ima stay with pump gas just incase I take a long trip and not dealing with if that e85 station closes down

Crazy thing is boost varies with every setup, the more efficient your motor is, the less boost you will see, for example my built 331 with 6lbs of boost made 566rwhp, that same blower and pulley setup on a stock motor would have made 10lbs of boost. I didn't think you need that much boost to make 500hp at the motor, but if you really want to make a lot boost, I wouldnt get a S-trim, I would look at a Si-trim or T-trim.

Yeah i was leaning towards the T trim. 500whp is what im shooting for but if it makes more ill be real happy.

I've run 9.0:1 compression with 17psi through a vortech Si trim for 3 years on 91. No problems whatsoever and the air to air intercooler keeps it within 15 degrees above ambient all day long. Vortech converted to blow through with A/A are incredibly reliable and efficient setups for street cars.

You definitely don't need that much boost to make 500hp on just the motor. If you want to make that much to the rear wheels then you'll need 15+ depending on the head/cam combo. Still wish I went with bigger cams but too late now :-/.

If you are planning to run 15-16 psi i would stay around 9.0-9.5 cr. My last setup was like a 9.8cr stroker with 12-13psi and made 550hp to the tires on 91. imo there arent enough gas stations with e85 for it to be use for a street driven car. Just get a pump tune and race gas tune. Good luck with the build!
