o.k. i have a situation where a 95 ford f150 has a busted rear drive shaft, well the u-joints sheared and the shaft was punctured and banged up from spinning freely...the good news its is also a four wheel drive. so just for the sake of getting around until i canget the replacement driveshaft. i thought, remove rear drive shaft and throw it in four wheel drive and it will still be able to pull itself around by the front wheels!..front wheel drive 4x4..haha.. this would just be till monday. no hauling, heavy loads, easy on the accelerator, ect...anybody see a problem with this by chance??..oh and what can i use to plug the hole, if anything, in the transfer case where the drive shaft slides into??..wouldnt want all that tranny fluid to get lost and have a permanent fwd f150. thanks for any confirmation, info, solutions, informative sarcasm, and/or clowning in advance!!

did i word that wrong?? was i suposed to say transfer case....but yeah the u-joints sheared at the front of the rear the driveshaft leaving the yoke in the tranny, but the yoke obviously slides right out so what do i do to stop fluid comming out of where the yoke was or how do i keep the yoke from commin out without the rest of the shaft there??

Install a driveshaft to keep the yoke in place. It's about the only thing you can do to keep the yoke in place to keep fluid from pouring out.

No, I am saying no because the yoke is the only way to hold the fluid in the transfer case. And like wilit said only real way to hold the yoke in is the drveshaft.

Some driveshafts unbolt at the u joints. If it was one of those it would have worked.

ohh you mean how the u-joints in the rear of the shaft bolt up to the pumkin! gotcha!

dan, if i still kept torches handy instead of this post i would have just sliped the yoke in a little crazy glue on it, rtv the seams, jb weld over that, a roll of duct tape around....and then a short pause to ponder if finishing it off with foil tape would be overkill....then finished it off with foil tape....lol
