Just installed and did 5 speed conversion everything shifts great however gears 1-3 whines really loud both inside and outside. Sounds like I have a supercharger!!! 4th gear doesn't whine at all and 5th only a little bit. What could be the case and should I be worried?

I had a mustang with a t5 rebuilt from Aamco (previous owner) and that fucker whined just like an eaton
It felt stiff shifting gears too I just figured somthing was too tight inside... I would slam gears and it would never grind a gear tho

Can you adjust the stops on the shifter? Maybe they are out of whack.

I hope royal purple makes ATF because if not then thats gear oil and that gear oil is eating your tranny up. Of its not ATF get it out asap

Well it says synchro max is a ATF replacement for manual transmissions but idk. I like tried and tried stuff because I doubt all your bearings are going out all at the same time

if it is fluid level then shouldn't all gears whine??

Yea and 3 quarts is what it calls for so you should be good. Just check and see if you have a leak

in 4th none of the roller bearings under the gears are used the input and output shaft are locked together, try changing to regular atf. if it still makes noise your leaning toward a countershaft bearing problem. all gears with the exception of fourth use the countershaft.

its the front face on the input shaft and whatever gear cluster is worn also.in your case it wouldl be the cluster with 1st, 2nd, and 3rd.its like a coating or enamel or finish i guess you can say that all the teeth and gears have on them when they are produced. due to the harsh driving and possible improper maintenance over time it gets worn down or off. its just something thats going to eventually happen.pretty much the only way to fix it is come all brand new parts or tranny.

Take that fluid out and put cheap dexIII fluid. 1,000,000 donuts later and some drift events and my tranny still shifts as smooth as butter
