So in driving home from wrk and my autometer elec gusge shows im at 230 degrees, so i kill the engine an coast it thru my exit into the gas station and pop the hood. No boiling water engine compartment temp seem normal, manifolds feel warm not hot. So i wait about 15mins and check the temp again now my temp says 245 degrees.... So im like WTF!?!?!?!?

I drive home, hop in my other car an get a temp switch and instal the stock style switch to my autometer guage and WHAMMMMMM it rockets past 250 degrees... Mind you the car has been sitting for over an hour...

Obvisiously the autometer switch is bad, but im curious as to why the brand new stock style switch made the meter jump, can i use a stock switch with the auto meter guage? Or is the guage itself fukd????

Your whole car is fucked! Lol. I got a question my boy just changed the his clutch cable and the pedal is extremely hard. Do you think that it could be the quadrant, fork, or the clutch itself. It's also grinds when putting into gear. Also it has a oem clutch cable & quadrant. Lmk

different resistance, you probably just need a new auto meter temp sender

Assuming the gauge isn't fukd. .....Be sure to inspect the radiator cap. For every 1lb pressure it does not hold Upto in our 16lbs cooling system...Thats 10° over heating right there!!!
$10-12. ...Best insurance possible. Remember; you don't have to see water or antifreeze on the ground to qualify as overheating. If the coolant mixture isn't correct....it will most likely steam off/out from under the radiator cap as you drive down the road. You may never even see it till too late.

Yup. When I installed my autometer gauge, I simply just plugged the wire into my existing temp sender. No go. I got absolutely no reading from it. Called American Muscle (where I got the gauge) and they said it won't work with the stock sensor. You have to use the one that came with the gauge. Plugged that one in and Whala, I have real temperature!!
Sounds like the sensor went bad on ya. Get one from autometer.
