My friend has a 1995 GT with a fried wiring harness from the headlight switch. After market headlights seem to be a common cause for this. Any options for a wiring harness that won't melt out?

She doesn't want to back to stock...

Thanks all!

Wire in a relay. With a relay you can run batt voltage to the lights and use one of the factory pig tails for high/low beam signal and the relay only requires minimal voltage/load to switch on. Definitely a necessary on the later fuse box to lamp switch harnesses. Google image search Headlamp Relay Wiring.
