Okay so I just picked up a Fox and it turns out that I'm gonna need a new motor. I'm not having any luck finding a 5.0 in my area but I've found a couple 5.8's in trucks. So my question is, can I swap it in and still pass smog?

yep, just don't put big 351w or 5.8 stickers all over, use a lightning lower with a gt40/explorer upper and the smog tech isn't going to notice.
