this is my 3rd clutch cable that likes to melt and make the cable real stiff got the tko 600 with the scatter proof bell housin from lakewood and it looks like its a lot closer to the long tubes than the stock t-5 what could i do to make this not happen again
was thinkin of buyin some exuast wrap and wrap the header upp but want to know what other people are doin

There are various exhaust products on the market.... Thermal shield or something like that makes blanket wraps that have fasteners and steele wire tie built in....

aight koo just tired of changin and puttin a new one in and just looked under the car melted all the way to the wire and was like 3-4 inches away from the header

i went through the same thing you did. had a clutch cable, lasted me a year. it broke, so i bought a stock replacement cable from Kragen. lasted a week. then i bought the whole BBK kit and some heat wrap stuff for the cable near the headers. honestly the cable worked for 30 minutes before the inside melted to the cable itself and wouldnt work. after some research, i found the cable from maximum motorsports. this is the link to it. its a modified cable for a SN95 body style which is longer. it routes the cable further forward, allowing you to move it away from the headers, and go past the motor mount to the bellhousing. its freaking awesome. had mine over a year, never an issue. you do have to use a firewall adjuster, and an aluminum quadrant. but well worth the money. it WILL solve the problem
