I have a 408 stroker in my 68 mustang I want to put a stick in it. Can I build a t5 TO HANDLE tha power without breaking it I just got a tranny for 100 but it needs to be rebuilt I guess I'm asking is it worth rebuilding for that kinda power

does your 408 stroker make 250rwhp?
then sure a t5 will be fine.

+1 a stock T5 will NOT hold up to a 408w, maybe a Astro T5/G-force T5.....but if it was me, I would go with a TKO 600 behind that 408w
edit - before someone recommends a t56 and its variants....T56 = heavy (125+ dry). its huge and major modifications will be necessary to clear the trans tunnel. [ September 27, 2011, 01:58 PM: Message edited by: 68stanger ]

TKO 600 ftw, or else you'll be replacing your trans every oil change

Actually, the Astro T5 would be a good choice for that application however I would not trust it over 500 rwhp. At that point the case becomes suspect.
