i wasnt aware that many shops did this, sumtimes its better to just buy a another bare head and swap the components, for example i had some trick flow heads a while ago with the same kinda damage, and it cost me more than what a new set would of cost, i paid for it anyway to save face with the shop, but make sure u get a estimate and tell them ull get back, and check ur options, even after the head is welded its not as strong as the original, unless they heat treat it which is something for sure most machine shops dont do, its really as far as i knew a speciality kinda job. mine was done at pauls empire head shop, where they advertise this kinda fixin , then i learned about the heat treatin process to toughen the head like original. and they didnt do that they said. call around and stuff, and see how much one bare head is.

These heads have a stage 4 port job so I'm tryna really fix them and maybe put them on my cougar motor, but I'm bout to step it up tho to some AFR 205's since my next motor ibuild will be more serious motor, but I just love the GT40 heads they really out perform a lot of heads out there once you clean them up and port them, jae u know what I'm talkin bout we both be walkin cats with trickflow heads and top of the line intakes

You can try Morgan's Machine in Walnut Creek. Last time I was in there, they were repairing a fist sized hole in a Merlin block. I'm positive they repair heads too.
