I purchased my car with no motor or trans as a lien sale. The plate that is on it has tags from 05. What should I do to register it and what should I expect to pay?

you will have a lot of trouble getting a smog cert with no engine in it (presuming you are in California).

bring the title to the dmv and register as a non-op. have some kind of proof of what you paid for the car. you pay taxes(roughly 10%) on that and the non-op fees.

don't want to seem fussy, but that is not a REGISTRATION, it is a Title Only. You get ownership, but no legal right to operate it on the road (without an engine, no big deal I know).
