So I just installed a gear drive on my camshaft in my 306 69. I only have put on the top gear, the one on the camshaft and it is hell of hard to turn now. So my question is: Is this normal? I can still turn it by hand, but it is kind of hard. I don't hear it rubbing when I turn it, but I don't know if it needs to "ware" in. If over a few miles it runs better or not, and lessens up.
If ya got one installed on your 302/6 let me know if you have any advice. Hell maybe even call. [ March 24, 2011, 12:24 PM: Message edited by: Yellow69 ]

Unless you have the rocker arms backed off, you're going against the valve spring pressure so it's won't be easy to turn.

No new cam bearings. Every thing else is the same. I just pulled the cam and lifters and just spun the cam without the gear on, was easy, then with was hard. Don't even have the lifters in yet.
Might it be the plate the holds the cam in place? Could I have tightened the bolts too much?
I don't know what a torringtone bearing is. Other then a bearing. As for the gear drive, R/S racing gear drive. And I dont know about the spacer, I am using mostly stock stuff at the moment. But at the moment it is only a cam and a gear in there. Sorry Duncan I am kind of a noob to this whole rip it apart and put it together.

Got my new woodruff key and put the bottom gear on as well as the two middle ones. Harmonic is back on now, as well as the timing cover(with me having to modify it, cutting it up) and it turns just fine now.
