whats the fuel pressure?
plug in a timing light to double check.
did you do anything recently?
Posted by Greasy (Member # 5258) on
:
What have you done to it recently? Try running a code reader KOEO, we need more info.

ive done nothing.. the battery died all the way i charged it put it back and now it wont start.. i thought it was fuel pump so i check all the switches under seat one back trunk.. then the fuel pump wasnt comin on.. i replaced it.. still no fuel pump.. i bypassed the fuel pump and put in a toggle to turn my fuel pump on with a switch..still no start.. my plugs tim ing is perfect.. ive never messed with it since i bought it.. im trully stumped... i have no clue..

i'm having the same problem, i think its my computer but i havn't changed it.

Do the code reader Key On Engine Off, you said your cars a 93 so you have a fuel pump relay in the enigine compartment by the air box. Check that also...

spray some brake cleaner in the TB. try to fire it after. Assuming you have spark.

FUEL
Posted by Greasy (Member # 5258) on

So what if it does fire? You going to convert it to run on Brake Kleen?
He also said the fuel pump/relay isn't working, is Brake Kleen going to fix that?
Posted by LUCKY 187 (Member # 4347) on
:
NO it will verify if it is indeed a fuel problem rather then changing or hunting an issue that is not present.
and no it wont fix a broken relay, but i assume if he said he is getting fuel at the injectors as he claimed at one time then he has no idea what a working and non working relay is.

He still hasn't checked the fuel pump relay in the engine compartment

i am only helping him check the BASICS rather then sending someone on a wild fucking goose chase. i worked over 3 years in a mustang shop watching people bring their car in looking to change everything but the problem because they listened to expert smart asses online.

Good for you, my car never sees a shop. Running the code reader KOEO isn't "a wild fucking goose chase"

Don't be so foolish to think this thread is about you. I seen someone write tfi module and I am talking about tech talk in general.

lol you sound like a therapist, I am just trying to help this dude out. What you suggested just didn't seem like it would help if he knows his fuel pump isn't working, sorry "bro". I had no intention in arguing with you, I didn't want/need the drama....

You say everything is all 'coo', your getting spark, fuel and air. If you were indeed getting all three it would run.
I bet you don't get spark. Distributor, Ignition Coil, Ignition Switch. Check em.

i agree, if hes getting all 3 then he wouldnt have a problem. most of the things suggested in this whole thread are valid things to check.

Im curious as to how hes verifying that he has fuel and spark.Your right,if he had fuel and spark it would at least try to fire.Maybe its a weak ass spark hes gettin.

possibly, but unless its a very high compression motor i think a weak ass spark should still be able to fire it up.
OP, have you hooked up a timing light to it?
spraying cleaner could verify if youre getting spark also (if it fires up for a split second). It might also tell you that your fuel pump aint working or getting power.
Posted by 50DADDY (Member # 3076) on
:
Yeah,i guess i agree, even a weak spark would get some kind of fire goin.He didnt mention how this started either.Did he go outside one day and it wouldnt start?Or were there some mods goin on and then it wouldnt start?
How are you verifying spark and fuel?

does the fuel pump still buzz when u turn the key? mines was buzzing(priming i guess) but not as loud when it was goin out!and did u check the relay under the seat?my buddys fuel pump had went out and when he took his out we seen the wires in there had smelted together on the fuel pump!check it out!

Thanks everyone. I sprayed starting fluid in the intake it started for a split second then died. So I'm guessing gas. I bought a brand new switch under the seat replaced it. The trunk switch is good. I replaced my fuel pump. Had a shop do it. It's stuck in the shop now. When I turn the key I don't hear fuel pump prime now that I put the new under seat switch. I took it out and rigged a toggle switch to see if my fuel pump turned on and it did. I'm thinking maybe injectors maybe?? I have no clue
Posted by 50DADDY (Member # 3076) on

Did you ever bother to check the rollover switch in the trunk??
Posted by dipped50707 (Member # 6344) on
:
As u can see in the last post I did above u it says I checked the switch in the trunk

perfect. now we know its a fuel issue for sure. where are you located? i had a computer fail after changing a battery. it stopped sending the signal to the relay for the fuel pump to turn on.

It is very difficult to diagnose a no start condition over the internet without seeing the car first hand. Every one of the suggestions made here are very valid. But before you get too crazy let's start with the very basics. From your description: your battery died, you charged it, put it back in and now you have a crank-no-start issue. You don't hear the fuel pump prime even with a new relay (unless you by-pass the relay with a toggle switch). You mentioned that spraying starter fluid in the intake you were able to get the engine to fire, albeit for a short amount of time. That's a good sign. It shows the engine has spark and it also shows that the injectors may not be pulsing. I am assuming you have the fuel pump relay by-passed and the fuel pump is on which means there is pressure in the lines and fuel is getting to the injectors but the injectors are not pulsing so fuel is not getting into the cylinders. The fuel pump relay and injector pulse are controlled by the PCM. Check your fuses and fusible links. Did you try jump starting the car first? Did you accidentally put the battery cables on backwards?
Because it sounds like you either popped a fuse (or fuses), burned a fusible link or fried the PCM. Like I said, it's difficult to diagnose without seeing the car. But let's go back to what you originally had, a dead battery. Any, and all electrical system diagnosis should first start with checking the fuses and fusible link (if present). Let us know what you find.

agree check your fusible links most are located under the starter solenoid. get yourself a noid light or follow the steps on the video I sent you

FUEL
some of you dont understand what he means by this. if there is a fuel system issue, you spray starting fluid in the throttle body while someone cranks the motor. if it runs while spraying starting fluid then its definently a FUEL issue. at least then you can rule out ignition, computer, etc. and focus on fixing the actual problem and not wasting time and money on other things.

i wonder how much time and money was already wasted,,,,,after all that im pretty cheap i would guess lol.
