I took it to my boys shop and ran a few tests, when I ran the fuel pump with a straight signal it didn't putter when you floor it and the car ran fine but when you don't, it seems that a signal isn't being sent to the fuel pump and the car bogs out and dies when you give it some throttle like its not getting enough fuel...

Even if it may have seemed it ran better with the way you played with the fuel pump, I had a buddies car do the exact thing but was a 2002 gt. I ended up taking off the idle air control valve (iac) and cleaned all the lines and the valve itself with a carb cleaner spray, let it dry thoroughly, and it fired right up once I bolted it back on . The problem was it only stayed running if I floor it, common stang problem I guess. Good luck man
