my buddy has a 98 gt 5 speed that wont start when the car is hot or when the weather is hot. he usually has to wait about 10 minutes to try, but now its getting worse.any suggestions or advise would be greatly appreciated, thanks in advance

Either loose connections on the battery terminals/starter or a bad spot in the starter solenoid (replace starter).

Absolutely.
It's not cranking over, right? If it IS cranking over, but will not fire, I'd question the crankshaft or camshaft position sensor.

heat = more resistance. replace the starter

could also be the battery cables, or engine ground strap.

youd be surprised at how a less than perfect connection or dirty battery terminal can affect things. Try addressing that and ground strap before throwing money at it. if it aint that, the only other thing i can think of is the starter is starting to go or the timing is too advanced but i dont know much about how timing is messed with on the modulars.

had this very same issue w/ hot starting. cleaned the battery terminals and cables and no hot start issues after.
