first off, i checked and re-checked for exhaust leaks so i'm pretty sure that the noise isnt that.
my setup is bbk equal length shortys, bbk o/r x-pipe, and spintech catback.
now, since i put my x-pipe on there it sounds really good from outside, but when i get on it, at around 2500-3500 rpms it sounds weird from inside the car, like a fast clack-clack-clack. but the low and high rpms it sounds great. once again, im pretty sure its not an exhaust leak, do x-pipes just sound that way? could it be that a different catback would sound better? this is my first time putting one on my car. any advice would be greatly appreciated thanks cafords.

My advise is raise the car and when your under it try shaking the exhaust or tap it with a rubber mallet. I'm thinking it vibrating against something...

hangers on xpipe are cut off...hangers on catback are all good. exhaust is clear of objects and is bolted in very solid

i dont know if your talking more of a clapping sound at those rpm's cause thats what mine does at those same rpm's and thats how its suppose to sound...but if it sounds like metal clunking you got another issue.

I guess you could say its a "clapping" sound. Ive made a few passes up & down my block while i had people listen and everyone says it sounds way better than my catted h-pipe from the outside, so i guess ill just learn to live with it for now... that's exactly how the x-pipe sounded on my 4v `97.
And that's why I took it off and switched back to an H-pipe.
I had a BBK o/r X and dynomax superturbo catback, no leaks it just sounded like something was broken around 2500rpm's.

It doesnt sound that bad, it just takes getting used to. I'll try it for now and switch back to a h-pipe if it becomes unbearable. I like the compliments i've gotten so far though

I have the exact same sutup less the equal lengths for some shorties and I dont have any problems. Maybe just not used to the change from a catted h to o/r xpipe?
ps that setup sounds wicked huh? [ January 19, 2011, 01:36 AM: Message edited by: Ryan_LX ]

Yea it sounds awesome, i took it to a few shops for second opinions and was told that nothings wrong. I also heard straight through mufflers like pypes or magnaflows sound better, has anyone else experienced this?
