tune or not, an ecam on an otherwise stock 5.0 will run worse than the stock cam.

My 94 has a cam in it, unknown what kinda cam but definitely cammed, and it drives ok, but at low rpms, you can definitely feel is chugged a lil bit, and I would almost say its slower than a stock 5.0 until about 3k. Soon Im gonna put my Intake manifold on and that should make a big difference.

Go ask over on corral in the 94/95 tech section.. its a "No-go"... and pick your cam based on performance and your current parts.. who says an e303 will even help? I'm not trying to be a hater but there are far better options than that? [ December 09, 2010, 12:21 PM: Message edited by: cali95gt ]

Well it depends on what stage your car is currently at. Do you have aftermarket heads, intake..etc..etc? If so the cam "will" help at mid to WOT, but there is good chance there will be some driveablity issues at low rpm. If your car is a 94 then there is a good chance you are running a 94-95 computer. It is a bit more finicky then the fox computers, but there is nothing a good tune or a piggyback self tuner cannot resolve. If you do install without a tune..bump the idle and that should help a bit, but you should get everything straightened out with the heads/intake first.

It will run, you'll see a small increase in power. I mean come on, 99% of the 5.0's with E/F/X cams all don't have tunes and think their shit is hot.
A tune will mean a night and day difference.

I think it would do you better because you have a cobra, if you had a gt..in terms of power

Only based on the cobra's having different spec cams.

I can see what you mean, but I was referring more to the power he would gain, from having better heads and intake,to go with the cam... but from what I've heard the cobra cams are not as good as the gt cam? Any one know if theres any truth to this?

It's true, which must be a real downer to the bone head's who buy one and pay someone to install it but I doubt You would actually be able to tell the difference between the two.

Just wondering can you put an ecm out of a fox into a sn95 after a cam swap? just thinking out loud that if guys are having trouble with idle issues in a sn95 after cam swap and i know personally that you can put a pretty healthy cam in a 87-93 with no big issues i would think to just use a 87-93 ecm? what are your thoughts

Yes. Saw a 89-90 computer in the ford sale section not long ago. You can get alot of Your question's answered by utilizing the search function as alot of topic's have been covered in detail. Do some searching here reguarding cam's and computer swap's and look around www.corral.net also to make an educated decision on Your purchases, do You plan on putting aftermarket heads and intake down the line? If You plan this out You could save Yourself time and money down the line by making a plan for Your setup before You start buying stuff.

It's been done, but why swap a perfectly functioning (and faster) ecm out of a sn95? It is going to need a tune anyway so why waste cash on a new computer when you are going to chip the sn95 computer or piggyback it already with a tuner?
