well im working on a 95 mustang . has a auto and it only had reverse .no 1-2-3 pulled it out and half the trany was broken off (case).

found a new one was getting ready to install . go and try to seat the torque converter (original torqu converter) and it feels like its got way too much play . up and down play not rotating play .

i pull in out and im able to turn the internal gear inside the torque converter by hand and move it around and also up and down .

looked around for some of my stock ls1 converters and they are all nice ande tight . still rotates by hand but absolutly no up and down play .

could it be possible the torque convereter is broken ? and it was causing the tranny not to shift from 123 ? and only work for reverse ?

or is it normal for these things to have soooo much up and down movement ?

really need some quick info as im literaly ready to trow in the new trany as soon as i figure out if its good or not .
