Everytime i start my car the needle on my tach shoot's up o 4000 rpm and stay's there. I cleaned the TPS, check for vacum leak, and my last source of problem would be the ignition switch. But before that, anyone here had this similar problem? please i need help! Thanks!!!!

if it's just the tach shooting up high and the engine sounds like it's idling normally than the tach has failed and you need a new gauge.
if the engine is really idling that high then you have a very large vacuum leak, check the PCV or the brake booster vacuum lines from the intake manifold.

I remember when my 5.0 use to do that! One time it went strait up and then fell over to the other side of the guage. lol
Your going to need to get a new cluster. Can always just disconnect it and run a tach on the dash.

Thanks to all the possible solutions! My Idle is 100% Normal it's just the tach that is malfunction, I will follow all these advise, worst comes to worst I just get a new cluster.
Thanks! ![[Smile]](smile.gif) [ November 05, 2010, 11:14 AM: Message edited by: 5dean0 ]

the temp sensor has absolutely nothing to do with the functions of the tach, all it does is tell the computer when the engine is warmed up so it doesn't idle at ~1500rpm once it's warm.
