Ok I recently had an issue with my 2000 Mustang GT where the port from the heater core to the intake manifold broke off (do not know why ford wanted to be cheaper and get a plastic manifold instead of a aluminum is beyond me) but however I fixed the problem I took apart my manifold threaded a new piece extension for my heater core hose and now I have a misfire in my 4th cylinder (in the corner of my manifold near the heater core port) and looked over and saw my manifold bolt in the corner had coolant leaking out. When I took apart my manifold I did replace the gaskets as well so it couldnt be my NEW gasket I wanted to know some feedback from everyone on what I should do with this problem I also have a spare brand new EDIS coil pack if that is the problem as well please help me!!!

Change the spark plug and COP. Make sure you use dielectric grease on the COP. Also change that intake manifold...it's going to split on you at the most unopportune time.

hahaha.....yea replacing the manifold is my plan for later just need a temporary fix those aluminum manifolds are expensive man.... yea so I shouldn't fiddle with the manifold bolt that has coolant seeping through?

The first time my bro and I took out the manifold in my gt we pulled out a coil pack and the spring came. Not thinking it was broken we put it back in. When we started the car there was a misfire code which was being thrown. It also ran like shit. We ended up switching out the coil pack and the issue was solved.

Yea I hear if there is a slight bend at the coil it would cause a misfire [Frown]

so I took out my coil pack and comparing it with the old and the new one cant see nothing wrong with it except the old has a lot oil and grease around it so should I put in the new one with the dielectric on the new?

before replacing, just trade the cop with another one and see if the misfire code follows the cop, if it doesn't then the cop isn't the problem.

but yes, dielectric grease ALWAYS needs to be put on the spark plug tip, and inside the boot of the cop.

Yup, just make sure you use one with an aluminum water crossover.

I was told that ford went from aluminum to plastic was to save their money and bring more business to the shops when they break. However, the plastic is strong enough to travel a little over 100,000 miles. My buddys 04 started pissing coolant in between the plastic and the aluminum water jacket near the thermostat.
