the car seems to only burn oil when i start the car up after sitting anywhere from 30 mins to a few hours. when it sits overnight most of the time it doesnt. it may burn just a little bit of oil in the high rpms (5k) but not sure. i put one qt of oil every 700 miles or so. could it just be worn out rings, or something else that i could check?

it could be bad valve guide seals if it seems to burn oil only on startup; i doubt its rings if only on startup

just curious, but how do you determine that it burns oil only on start up?

so the problem could be in the top end? that would be great im on a limited budget it would be better for me to put new heads and cam instead of having the entire block rebuilt. but is it worth the risk?
