How much boost would it take to get a 93 with stock heads, cobra intake, stock cam w/ 1.7's, and bolt on's, to break the 300+ rwhp mark? I said 12lbs, but I want to get some of your guy's input. Thanks fellers..

Yeah, this kids car runs tits, 148k on the clock. As far as I know hasn't been abused. I told him, to be careful on a 93 with the hypers though.

Sweet. He'll be happy, I'll be pissed though, cause his stock headed car will be faster than my h/c/i car!! But then again I have 5k miles on my engine, and his will probably blow soon. I'll just tell him he can only run 6lbs.. Hehe

I would say 8lbs. Make sure you do a compression and leakdown test to check for issues.
Also, use an FMU and BTM unless you plan on getting a tune

Just to clear things up on this post, I'm the owner of the 93. I'm looking to sell it, mike just tell the "fellers" that you're the one inquiring about this set up.

Same HP NA should take him, especially on a hot day. Shit I used to smack Supercharged cars with 60+ more rwhp all the time, even from a roll. But who knows what went into those dyno numbers, higher octane gas, cooler day, fans etc.. Not to say Supercharged is bad but NA power feels so good, and always on tap! A simple estimate of how much boost is needed.
A 302c.i. motor makes 225Hp normally aspirated and you want 325Hp. How much boost?
325 hp / 225 Hp = 1.44 That motor needs 44% more air flow. Air pressure is 14.7psi. 14.7 * 0.44 = 6.5psi boost.
As someone mentioned, it takes horsepower to drive a belt driven supercharger so to actually get 325Hp you'll need to target for about 340Hp (about 7.5psi).

And that still wouldnt be at the wheels I still say 8-12psi of turbo boost for stock motor to make over 300hp at the wheels.
I think that TurboGT off of here did it with a bone stock 160K longblock and 18psi he made 420rwhp with the bone stock longblock intake etc.

What's the power band like with boost like that running through all the stock components?? I bet the low end and mid range rip!

ya, i dont know why but for some reason a n/a car, say 400hp, will be faster than a forced induction car with the same hp

I have always wanted a boosted car and may do it wit the new 3 valve but there is just something wildly fun and entertaining about the sound and feel of an n/a car and when somebody at the track walks up after a run and says holy shit I thought you were supercharged. GREAT! But who doesn't love the feeling of hitting boost though.

Oops. Big mikes comment got me off track of lil mikes thread. MikeD why don't you put nitrous to your setup I thought that's what Dan built it for? Don't quote me on that I'm sure turbo50 knows all the details but if this is the case wouldn't a nice little shot and some better tires be a much cheaper way for you to go mid 11s all day and still DD your car

Absolutely. If it is for gay MikeDs car then just put some nitrous on it for now. It will handle it, easy.
