hi all i know i have an msd box. not sure which one though. would switching up to the msd 6-btm box do me any good? im supercharged and get some knocking just driving around town.

is the $40X.XX price tag really worth it? i dont feel like spending that money but i also dont feel like spending money on new heads or a new motor.

knocking (or pinging).... detonation??

Is the control box the one supplied with your SC Kit?? It's a Ign/Boost control system.

Are you tuned? sounds like you have a few possibilities going on:

assuming it's pinging then you might not have enough timing, which a tune would take care of.

or you could be blowing out the spark

what are your plugs gapped to?? If it's stock settigns then your blower could be blowing it out.

In any case I dont think an ignition box would help you out much. Figure out WHY your getting knocking first, I think once you get that done your knock will disappear.

my main problem is bog but knocking is annoying and i have to deal with it too.. what control box are you talking about?? boost control? ignition control?

no idea what my gap is.. they replaced and gapped new plugs when i was tuned..

i have the msd 6al box on with a msd coil..

im looking at new plugs so what is a propper gap? should i consider any special plugs?

I don't think the BTM is going to help you. It only kicks in when you get under boost. If you have knocking and pinging cruising around town, you have some other issues going on. You may have your timing too far advanced.

i dont drive like granny.. i dont drive like i stole it either.. im under boost a little of the time but the knocking happens mostly 4th gear up a hill or 5th gear up a hill. never knocks in 1st-3rd.

so until i am above a nutral manifold pressure the btm wont retard my timing? that sucks.. its useless then.

has anyone tried to replace spark plugs on a car with a kenne bell blower? i did and i cant reach 3 of the 4 plugs on the drivers side bank.. damn supercharger is hanging right over that valve cover and stupid strut tower brace is also in the way.

who wants to put new plugs in for me? 20 bux? anyone?
