my boy has a stock stang with a cobra upper and lower intake and full exaust would it be a ok upgrade or should he stick to a 65mm tb

Depends on what the goals are...if everything was the same price I'd get a 70mm one as it would match the cobra upper opening, but that would be the only reason.

If i was your boy i would keep the stock one, Once he figures out what he will be doing with the car/motor h / c/ forced induction / nitrous, that way he can calculate what size tb he needs rather than buying a 65mm only to realize 6 months later he needs a 70mm...

Psi ÷ cubic inch + 14 x 2 - 37 = throttle body size
