Need to reinforce my torque boxes. One to many launches on dr at the track will do it. [Frown]

So I've been looking around and the price difference between UMI and wild rides torque box reinforcement plates is huge.

But the product is simple and basically the same.

Can anyone tell me if it's worth spending the extra 80 or so bucks on the wild rides plates?

Are there any other manufactures who make these?

Should I also reinforce the uppers? Or do these generally not have problem like the lowers?

Thanks [patriot]

i would just weld around the torque box seams instead of buying the kits.. i bought the UMI kit and it came with upper reinforcements and lowers as well.. i ended up not using the lower reinforcements because i didnt want to have to cut up the Torque box to make them fit.

ill get some pics of the spots i welded and where the upper reinforcements were welded into place if you want...

you dont really NEED to reinforce the uppers, but if the rear end is out and its easily accessible to do it, then you might as well...

and the boxes r already welded around the seams

you have to cut the tb's to fit the plates? I never knew this. Why do you need to cut the tb's? You cant trim the plates?

[Confused]

Mine were tearing to, I just just beat it all back into place welded up the tear and welded all the seams, and for the lowers I used the competition engineering plates from summit for 20 bucks. My car feels great.

I think the wild rides kit is for if you completely f your car up beyond repair, and just need to put a whole new set up in there. But also if you do use the battle box kit you'll most likely never have to deal with it again so its really up to you [patriot]

Go with the cheaper ones, weld all the seams, and get the wolfe racecraft lower plates.

PM "Quicksparks" and he can do all the work for you.

His welding is awesome!

Wow suddenly I got a bunch of responses. Sweet Ill look into those summit plates.

Right now the general consensus is wild rydes. I'll probably do the uppers while I'm at it too.

I'm lucky to have caught my torque boxes ripping early. They aren't pulling out of the pocket they sit in. It's ripping from left to right. I'll try to get pics up. Btw all the seams have already been welded when my sub frame connectors were put on.
