92 5.0, c-4, a9p processer. car seems to hit the rev limiter about 5300-5400 rpm. backfires thru the exhaust. seems early to hit the limiter thought it was 6250? anybody here of this before or what my problem might be? thanks,bob.

Did u check timing

nope didn't try it yet. timing set at 14 btdc. timing mark is on, tci balancer, checked it while degreeing the cam.

Have you checked your total timing? Maybe the mechanical advance is sticking?
