Being over full on oil, i just realized, im damn near a quart over full, i must have misread the stick when i put the oil in originally. would it bring a power loss from more resistance?

It's not going to blow any gaskets. Having more or less oil in the oil pan does not change oil pressure.

I know that having too much oil is "not good" but couldn't tell you the impact. I would just drain a quart out and call it good.

Only one quart isn't horrible, but I wouldn't run it like that for long. You will see increased oil consumption as oil will be drawn through valve guides, seals, etc internally and end up in the combustion chamber. Couple this with the possibility of oil aeration which will increase crankcase pressure, not a good thing.

JohnB is correct, you can potentially have oil leaks after running it overfilled. timing cover seal, rear main seal etc. if you just changed the oil, start your car up and let it run for at least 10 seconds so the oil filter gets primed. let it sit for a minute then check your oil. One quart overfilled isn't a show stopper, just drain a little. [ March 22, 2010, 07:05 PM: Message edited by: street_illegal_stang ]
