I know it's a beaten topic, but I would like some input from folks who have gotten some decent street cams through the sniffer. My car currently has an XE270-114, AFR 165s, Edelbrock RPM2, 24#, 302, and the rest of the typical stuff all NA. I suspect the cats I have are questionable and I am getting some blow-by. I'm gonna freshen the bottom end up here and now I am deciding on a different cam. I thought the one that is in there should have made it, it's really not that big. I did a pre-test and I don't have a printout but the tech said it was about 100ppm off on the hc at its best attempt. The car was hot and I do have a 195 t-stat, timing was at 10, fuel pressure was 36#. I have gotten an X-cam through before with a little different combo but I would like to use a newer cam if possible and not step back to the FFRP cams. I would like your input though even if you are using the ford cams. I would really appreciate any feedback you have, what your combo is, what you did, etc. Thank You. The combinations/possibilities are endless. If you're only 100ppm off, it can be corrected/passed with dropping the timing 1-2*. As stated, cats are questionable right?
I've gotten everything from a TFS1 to some of the bigger XE's to pass. It's all about the setup and condition of the shortblock.

Yeah I think the smog guy was tweaking with the timing and fuel pressure and that was the best he could get it. I just want to make sure I get a cam in there that will make it. Thanks for the input though.

spend a little extra money (not by much) and get a custom cam that would pass the sniffer. that would be the best way to go
