whats up good people? i need help figuring out whats up with my oil. 88 lx 5 speed with 122k on the odo. oil pressure gauge reads normal pressure in the midrange of it...but! my check oil light keeps coming on. i check my oil level and im way below full. i know ive got two sumps to deal with but in the last month ive been having to add a quart or more every week to bring it to full or near full on the dipstick. ive got no leaks anywhere. what other things can i check myself? has anyone had this problem? ideas? thanks, all.

either the motor is leaking oil externally or burning it in the cylinders. ever replaced you rear main seal?

If you have no visible leaks and your going through that much oil, I would say its burning it. You can also check your air filter for blow by (if you have a stock air box equiped)

You're probably burning it internally if you have no leaks or oil in the bay.

You sure its 122k and not 222k???

+1 burning that much oil sounds like it turned over twice.

sometimes these things run strong for 300k or more, my stock 92 motor had over 200k and ran strong and still runs in my dads 85 lol

as long as that puppy's got good compression, doesnt have rod knock, lifters arent tickin, etc you should be good to go. Its amazing how durable these motors are. My 87 bronco has well over 200k, has rod knock, (sounds like a diesel when started cold lol) lifters stick every once in a while and leaks from every seal and I daily drive it, take it to hollister, been to the snow, been to sacramento and it still runs strong...Even passes legit smog lol. And havent done an oil change in a year. Just running it til it goes lol
