looking to change the fluid in my 2000 transmission (5 speed) what king of gear oil do i use and how much. thanx

2.5-3 qts of dexron III ATF (automatic transmission fluid)

basically drain and fill until you can feel the fluid through the side fill hole.

can I use dextron III in my tremec tr3550 5speed?

The gm sychromesh cost alot and I cant seem to find dextron II anywhere. Just curious if there is any other compatible trans fluid availible [Confused] Thanks

they dont make dextron 2 any more dextron 3 took it place

Use anything that is Dex/merc approved. You can use Dex/merc III, IV, or V but do not use synchromesh as it is thicker than ATF. We use ATF because the ATF is thin enough to mesh in with the roller bearings and the synchros.
