im looking to start upgrading my engine. do you think roush heads for my 86 gt would be a cool upgrade and worth it? its mostly stock with 70mm tb and egr msd cap and coil k&n filter jba equal heders
i want to get heads cam and an intake let me know what a good moderately priced combo is

Cast heads don't really do it for me anymore. You will notice a HUGE power difference between cast and aluminum heads. You should get a 87-92 short block and do H/C/I.

TrickFlow Twisted Wedge's FTW!- I've had my TFS tw's on my car for years and they run hard. I've ran casts heads also but i agree with Greasy, if i were to do it all again i would have went strait to aluminums.

i have seen a 10hp difference at the wheel from roush heads to some afr185s that where on a 331 10 horses for 1200 bucks not really worth it for me

sounds like yall have combonation problems or might not know what youre doing when it comes to performance!!!!!!! i got a good idea go buy the biggest $h!t out there and put it all on a stock block!!!! those heads are tried and true check 5.0 mag, those are some of the sickest iron heads you can buy!!!! bring your afr 185's over to the machine shop we can flow test em side by side with my iron heads im killin 185's lol. now i know why people stay away from the tech talk on this site............a bunch of know-it-alls that dont know nuthin!!!!
keep your roush 200's bro dont throw your money away in the wrong place!!!!

Please explain your theory on this statement. Flow makes power, Roush heads have big ports and valves. They are just the old Dart iron castings renamed. You will gain a little from less weight and aluminum absorb and dissipate heat differently so they also have their advantages but your not going to see a HUGE power gain just switching to aluminum. If you went from stock e7's to some AFR's on a 347 then yes, your statement would be true but other than that your wrong.

are the roush 302 heads better then the gt40 heads? i heard from friends that gt40 heads and intake combo is one of the best? they told me a cam to. but i dont remember the name.

We run the Roush steel heads on our Sprint car... and they have proven to run quite well!!!

lol i would run the roush heads bro there cool ass heads as mysticman said one of our boys went from these to afr 185 and gained ten horse but that ten could have came from the tune

o lol. dam let me rephrase lol. shoulda have not said best. more like they said i could get a 10 sec setup outta those heads and upper/lower with cam and alittle suspension. n20 aswell of coarse, but what im trying to say is its the best bang for the buck with good results?

thanks for the link. im used to being on ls1tech. didnt need a book. just read about parts and peoples post. but ill be sure to check that book out.
what is a good h/c/i setup that people tend to like? something budget and on a stock bottom end. plan to spray atleast 100-150 shot.

Your current limiting factor is the lack of valve reliefs on your pistons, which will prevt the use of any traditional HCI package. You may want to look into flycutting the pistons if your shortblock is still in good shape. Once this is done, you can run a typical setup.
Or, throw a 150 shot on it and have fun.

if your running a wet kit no just need to retard the timing about 2 deg for every 50 shot and yes you'll need atune if your gonna run a dry shot so your injectors can compensate for the needed fuel-n20 mix
