correct me if I am wrong, but an axleback is just mufflers and tips on a s197, a catback replaces all the piping behind a the cats up to the mufflers and the mufflers and tips.

Yes. You get an xpipe/hpipe, whatever mid pipe u want, bolt that up to ur stock manifolds, and the end of it will have a pair of pipes that will bolt up to it, which then bolts to the axleback mufflers, which is the end of the exhaust set up. So just buy ur mid pipe and mufflers and they go right in.

My 05 GT, it went like this....It had stock exhaust manifolds, then my Bassani o/r Xpipe, then the stock pair of pipes that go to the rear, where I bolted my set of Borlas.

I dont know if that makes sense, but if ur wondering...between the mufflers and the x pipe, there are a pair of stock pipes that are ont he car that u will reuse, and those will be between the xpipe and the mufflers...
