I have the aem stand alone. For the most part it is plug and play and I have never had any probems with it. It does what it says and gives you full control of every aspect you could think of.
Dyno tuning was expensive because they didn't have a base so they started from scratch through every gear and throttle position and the hours added up. It was worth every penny to me.
There is a lot of info and support on tuning with the aem yourself and if you need professional help specifically for a mustang bob kurgan can set you up with a base and just work off that.
I also have a sct chip 4 bank chip with 4 different tunes on another mustang It was a lot cheaper than the aem, works flawlessly, and I was in and out of the tuners in couple hours. Car runs great and have no complaints about it. I think in total in was around 600 bucks for chip and tune. That's less than half of what the aem unit cost alone.
