i converted my banger got the motor to run, and did a 5 speed conversion now when i put the car into any gear the idle shoots up,....its a 5 speed where do i start with this one......

make sure the cable to the throttel body is not stuck on anything

its not stuck,....the car will be idling in nuetral if press the clutch the idle stays the same , but when i slide into any gear the idle shoots up,.....

theres a sensor on top of the trans that tells the computer somthin when in gear but not clear on what un plug and see what happens

hell yeah that was it thanx bro,...took it for its first succesful test drive lol.....now i think i might need a tranny it scratches in third....

if you have a short shifter make sure its adjusted correctly and with enough fluid in the trans

in third yeah i scuffed second my self,...if i granny shift it third dosent grind as hard....

im glad that worked! i had somethin that did that a long time ago.i think that is important tho like if thats not sensing in gear the computer is just chillin, with no performance curves. its like the computer is seein <oh where in nuetral we dont need to push>, so u might not be getting the full ummpth.but they only started that in like i think 90 and newer i think? ask john b for more details on this subject im not real clear on the total facts. but congradulations!

I know this may be a stupid question. But you added Dex/merc III, IV, or V ATF right??
