I have a 97 cobra with 3.73 gears that were installed in the car when i bought it. the rear end is brand new. maybe 700 miles on it. I feel like the car wants more gear. maybe 4.10 or 4.30's. do you think im crazy for wanting to step up the gears in this car with so low miles on the gears, or is my money spent best somewhere else.

honestly, I would stick with 373's for street use, but i heard those 32v motors like to rev really high, so 410's might be the way to go.

i ran 4.56s of my old '97 as a daily driver . it sure did make for a fun commute. 32V loves gears. i still avg. 19-20 which i thought was good.
4.10s min., but 4.30s if you're not a puss . 4.56s if you like to have fun all day, but i was shifting gears like crazy though. [ September 02, 2009, 06:37 PM: Message edited by: stangin' ]

well if im going to get gears i would go with 4.30's but i was wondering if it made much sense to change them out sense they only have around 700 miles on them. or should i just spend money else where

Honestly, it depends on your plans for the car. If you're ever gonna go boosted on it, stick with what you have. NA? 4.10s are the ticket. Just make sure you get the correct speedo gear to take into account the 23" rims.

The rims? You couldn't pay me enough to deface a car like that.
The gears? PM me, we'll set something up.

430's on my 32v feel perfect as a DD, 22mpg highway, in 3rd and 4th it feels like it could use 4.56's though [ September 02, 2009, 09:13 PM: Message edited by: Blind ]

These are the gears to go with. When I flew out to get my Cobra I wasn't hot on the idea of it having 4.10's but after driving it I can say for sure the way to go on a daily driver.

Honestly, I think it all depends on the purpose of the car. If it's a street/strip car that is driven during the weekdays then I'd say keep your 3.73 gears. If it's a weekend car or straight up 1320 car, I don't see anything wrong with running 4.10 gears.
