I have an 87 GT and want to replace my stock seats. They have a really bad "gangsta lean". I am not sure if it would be better to have them repaired or a buy a new set. Does anyone have any suggestions? Where should I look to get a new set?

Search general talk for "gangsta lean" or "gangster lean" something like that.

Apparently if you lift the cover it's a simple fix. One of the welds breaks and i bet if you take the seat cover off and take the seat to somewhere that welds steel they would hook you up for free.. [patriot]

Doubt free but just ask a friend with a welder. LoL. Doesn't have to look pretty since it will be covered, just as long as it holds! [Big Grin]

I think free. I went to MIDAS To have a few tack welds done to a bracket I was making.

I asked how much he said don't trip.

Another time I went to the muffler place I always go to when I need exhaust work and they offered to hook me up too. But that could be because I go there for my exhaust needs.

But the midas place I never been to..

From what I read it only needs a small weld on the seat so what are the going to charge you? Like 10 bucks? No biggie. Better than buying a whole new seat

That's cool, it's just tough to find people willing to put a few minutes in and not want money for their time. Seems like nowadays everyone is so money hungry. Didn't mean to call you out, you have just had better luck than I have. [Big Grin]

Naw your not calling me out. I agree though about the money hungry shit. But I've always seemed to have luck. I borrow tools and shit hella quick from shops. One time I was like hey can I use your torque wrench to torque this, dude was cool and let me.

But I needed some aluminum welded, and I don't know anything about welding other than what it's called. haha

Dude quoted me like 100 bucks [Eek!]

Then I found out you need a special tip and other shit so I drilled wholes and used bolts and screws [Big Grin]

Thanks for all of the suggestions. I didn't want to spend a lot of bread to get brand new seats. I never really though about trying to fix them. I'm gonna try this muffler shop that does the exhaust work for my car.
