Bought a 97 Taurus a couple weeks ago. Has 98,000 miles on speedo. I did a yahoo search on 97 Taurus and the major complaint was the transmission seems to fail quit often and is expensive to repair. Any ideas on preventive maintenance to head off thhis failure?? TIA

It's NOT illegal. It's just frowned upon, like masturbating on an airplane.

I went through a 97 and a 98, the only thing that helped me was whenever i serviced the tranny i used atleast 2 bottles of Lucas Non-slip tranny fliud. Its extra gooey, and I don't know if it was all in my head, but the tranny felt smoother.
