My friend was hurting for money so I bought this old hypertech chip off him for 20 buxs for my 90 5.0. I read that all it does is advance timing on my car which mine already is. Is this thing even worth my time.? if not no biggy. LMK, btw the pn is 691121.

It will advance your timing..thats it. So if your already advanced expect some hellish detonation. I wouldn't put it in your car. Without knowing the exact perimeters of the chip it is like playing Russian roulette with your motor. What if it does advance timing AND lean out your fuel..you going to have a big BOOM...

Thats very tru, you think I could call hypertech and get an answer or is this just too old? Its say 1996 on it so I just figure there really not much anyone will know about it.

You can do the exact tuning with advancing the distributor/timing and making fuel adjustments...you can call hypertech, but they may give you a bit of a "story" on how the chip makes everything better I am curious what they would say..a lot of the hypertech marketing was based on people that did not have an idea how to tune the old 5.0 (computer parameters). Now that it is common knowledge that the timing and fuel can be controlled manually then what is the use of their chip
