Anyone have any tips on gutting cats so they are just free flowing but looks like they are legal?

gutting is not a good idea becaused it will cause alot of turbulence.. run a non catted x or h and cut the cat in half and weld around the non catted pipe.

I did this years ago on my bbk high flow h pipe. What we did was dropped the pipe from the car cut in front of the cat, had a pole and beat the shit out of the inside. You don't know how much crap is in there. After we were done we welded back together and put it back up it looked good and you couldn't tell by just looking at it

yeah, I am just trying to get past the visual part, so that if someone gets under there it isnt immediatly apparent that its got no cats. I have a 4 cat pipe for smog.. its just too quiet

I would just get a free flow X or H pipe and weld on the cat heat shields. Way easier! Had this on one of my old stangs. Looks like you have them.
