when is 2.5 in piping too small. how much hp till u would need something bigger?

I think there is a flow forumla, you can probably google it, but I thoughtk the general rule was that 2.5" true duals are good up to 400+ horsepower.

2.5" will support a shitload of HP. Probably like 600+. With 3" exhaust you tend to loose quite a bit of torque at the low end.

2.5 is fine..3 inch would lose low end tourqe but would be louder

+1 Ive seen 500 hp to the rears with 2 1/2 in.
