well, a cam will help u a lil, but with stock manifold and heads its gonna hold u back. i would start by doin all the bolt on's first.

such as a bigger TB, MAF, pullies, fuel pressure regulator, thats pretty much it for the basic bolt ons.....u can also add headers, and 1.7 roller rockers but i dont consider those basic bolt ons

i dont know what ur budget is either.

the other thing with getting a cam is u can't really just throw it in.

regardless of what cam u do, u have to change ur valvetrain like valve springs, seals, locks, retainers, pushrods and rocker arms in order for to make good use of the cam and to not have problems with the motor.

also u cannot just throw a big cam in there because u will have piston to valve clearance issues. when u do a cam its best to degree it, u need a degree wheel and know what u are doing and u need a adjustable timing chain set. its a good idea to change ur lifters aswell. im might missing a few small details but those are the key things to keep in mind that should be that last thing u do in my opinion, and by that time i recommend a custom cam

so why have i been hearing that with some cams you need to have a maf conversion if you dont already have one...

so with mustangs you cant simply put the cam in dot to dot and be ok? i know that degree'ing a cam is best for optimum performance but usually one can get by with a simple dot to dot install-on most vehicles

thats why i said "it is best to degree it" ya u can put it straight in. just depends on the cam aswell. i believe retarding it moves the powerband up and advancing it, does the opposite im assuming. so people also retard the cam to get it to fit.

the maf thing....well, im guessing depending on the cam it wont run right if u dont have a maf. if ur car doesnt have a maf i suggest either way u covert to it
