Started up my 98' cobra on saturday and noticed white smoke coming out. About 5 min driving thereafter, my check engine light came on. code says bank 2 running lean. white smoke comes out at start up and a little bit while driving...i'm going to change my sensor tomorrow (I'm pretty sure bank 2 is driver side sensor, right?)BUT THE QUESTION IS: IS THIS WHATS CAUSING WHITE TO COME OUT?? bank 2 running lean is more than likely a vacuum leak, or other mechanical problem.
if you want to check that it's an o2 sensor, swap the front 2 sensors and the error code would follow the bad o2 if that was the case...

White smoke only at startup huh? You sure it's not coming out while you are driving it too and just not noticing it?
I would monitor your coolant levels closely just to be safe.

didn't notice smoke until my bro followed me the other day while driving . Coolant levels are normal though and don't see anything in the resevoir. [ September 09, 2008, 11:24 AM: Message edited by: exchp6400 ]

Pull your plugs and see if there is any oil on the threads. That happened on my 96 Cobra when one of the spark plug tube seals went bad. The smoke went away when I replaced the seal.

Changed out plugs, #7 was pretty messed up but problem still there. i'm gonna try replacing coil pack. I performed a comp. test and all cylinders were normal.

i'm pretty sure its a fuel problem. I can smell it in the oil.

if you have a vacuum leak like I mentioned up above you will misfire because it is so lean and the fuel that is in there doesn't get burned up so you'll have tons of unburned fuel, causing more misfires...etc.
I recently fixed a similar issue on my 4v and it was due to the EGR gasket.
take a smoke maker or a propane torch (unlit of course) and smoke around the vacuum lines and gasket areas at idle, if you find the leak the idle will jump up or you'll see the smoke being sucked in by the vacuum.
