im planning my engine build and looking at intakes im wondering if a gt40 will be good enough for my application. ill be running a 331, x303, tfs or alum. gt40 heads, and other bolt ons.
i was planning to run a lower compression for a supercharger in the future but wasnt sure if a gt40 would work or if im better off getting something else like a rpm perf2 since it makes more torque at a higher range, but then on the other hand would i even need to be going above 6k with a s/c
what are your thoughts?

Well, my 9:1 347 with a blower cam ran 12.35 @ 108.5mph with a Cobra intake which had the lower ported by T-moss on the Corral. It has a lot of torque and is very fun on the street. It didn't want to pull past 5600rpm NA, but that is probably the tiny heads and blower cam. With 7psi of boost and ET Streets it went 11.42 @ 119.5mph. With 12psi of boost it went 11.40 @ 125.6mph on my Nittos spinning a lot.
It has lots of low end and midrange torque and then the boost gives it a good top end. It drives around great on the street.
I am sure better heads and intake would make this thing a lot quicker NA, but I am already quicker than I can be with boost since I don't have a cage. Also, the extra power on the top would most likely sacrifice some low-end and midrange power and possibly not be as street and emmissions friendly. I built a very mild motor and then added boost and it has worked out pretty well.
We'll see if I am still satisfied after I get a cage, but that won't be for a looooooong time.

The holley made better power at the top and had better torque than the other aftermarkets down low, but it looked to me like it gave up a bunch of torque to the gt40. Maybe I read it wrong, but I thought it said that the Gt40 was still the best all around torque and horsepower "Street" manifold.

yea i dont think ill be running much higher than 6200. like it said hydraulic rollers arent meant for high rpm driving and i want my engine investment to last for as long as it can lol.

I have a buddy that just put a Holley on a 302. Motor has ported E7's, E303 cam, headers, and a few other mods. The thing lost a ton of torque.

wow really? it doesnt look to be too far behind the gt40, and it makes about 35 more hp and 30 more tq at 6200. now i just have to decide between how it looks and how it performs lol
