hey all... just wondering if anyone has had this problem... all my emission parts passed but my OBD II part failed... the MIL/Check Engine Light section to be exact... my check engine light has only been on once 3 years ago when i forgot to replug my Mass Air Meter in after switching it to a bigger one... I put all stock parks in yesterday and the guy told me to run it atleast 50 miles before rechecking? will this fix it? i'm skeptical... thanks for any help [ July 11, 2008, 02:23 PM: Message edited by: xmenstang ]

yes that is all you have to do to reset it. it didnt fail for there being anything wrong just when you disconnected the battery to change the parts there are rediness monitors that get reset those monitors tell the ecu if the light is supposed to be on or off and you have to do a couple drive cycles to reset them usually they will all be reset within 50 - 60 miles. im a smog tech and it is hard to get people to believe that all they have to do is drive their car to get it to pass...he isnt pullin ye leg

That has happened to me too. You'd think they would tell you that or have a freakin sign that states "IF YOU HAVE DISCONNECTED OR CHANGED YOUR FREAKIN BATTERY... and so on. They just want the extra money from the re-test.

man i get that all the time, people will try to cheat it by disconnecting the battery to reset the light but now all the monitors are reset and they fail. all the time, there not messin wit ya they just ran the test and it failed, just put some miles on it and the monitors will turn on by them selfs, if your worried get a cheap obd2 code reader from pepboys or something most of them can check monitor status
