hey all , this might be hard to explain but bare with me!

when i tried to start my car the other day, it made a very loud grinding noise...so loud it makes me not want to start the car...im thinking its the starter..

well when i played with my gears and put it to reverse , first etc and it started..but i dont want this problem to happen if im away from my hosue..sry for not being to specific...any help is always welcome! thanks!

its a 90 lx manuel trans with minor mods...stock 302 gears exhaust thats about it. thanks!

it takes 5-10 mins to take a starter out....pull it and have it tested....

sounds like the teeth on the flywheel or starter could be chiped or craked or jacked up .
this happens when sombody trys to start the car when its already running. [Wink]

does this mean that it made a grinding noise when it tried to start, or after you started it? basically just wondering if the starter gear is sticking or if it wasnt engaging in the first place. let me know [Whoo Whooooo!]
