i think its necessary to have an aftermarket shifter... i used to miss 3rd in my cobra and then i put an mgw in.. haven't missed since and i like the tighter feel of the shifter over stock...they do need to have the shift stops adjusted properly, unless you have a t56...
i also just put an mgw in my fox and it feels great so far... [ March 30, 2008, 05:20 PM: Message edited by: 93ReefBlue5.0 ]

MGW here and I love it , it's so much easier to hit third.

I think Pro 5.0 is overrated. You have to cut up your lower boot and its clunky. I thought I had a 2nd gear popout on my rebuilt T-5 until I traced it down to the upper boot getting pinched between the stop and the handle. It chewed a hole in the upper boot. I had a Steeda Tri-Ax on my old car and loved it.

For 86-04, nothing is better than Pro5.0 & MGW. For 05+, MGW is the only aftermarket shifter that should be installed.

I also have the MGW and i love it as does just about everyone else who has it. Its almost impossible to miss a gear with it. IMO its the best shifter out there.
