Hey guys I ran into a guy today that really recommended them to help me with a rebuild. Has anyone here had dealings with them? They are located in San Leandro. Thank you.

My racing friends tell me that Rick Santos does great work. But they also say that the turn around time hasn't been that good and that things have been taking a lot longer than expected. I haven't dealt with him personally but just going by what my friends say.

I have heard nothing but great things about S&S. As far as turn around time, well with any high end machine shop you are going to run into the problem of a "fast" turn around time, you want quality and not some "get them out quick operation" then thats something you will have to deal with . There is a reason they have the reputation that they do and why they have som many people using them.
Another GREAT place you may want to look into is Daves Engine Machine in Newark!

Well I had a friend go there and tell them that he needed the motor done at a certain date and no later. SS agreed that they could do it. But the deadline soon came and past and the motor was not done. It was not even touched! I'm of the school where it really doesn't matter what kind of job or company it is. Yard work, auto work, house keeping, it really doesn't matter to me. If the customer tells the company that they need it done on or before a certain date then the company should have it done by that date barring any unforeseen circumstances. Or if they don't think they can make it by the date then tell that to the customer before accepting the work. Now I know that SS does great work so I'm not talking about the quality or craftsmanship. But a similar thing happened to another friend too. Granted this was a while ago so hopefully things have gotten better.
But as for me, I go to Daves and I'm really not one to care about the completion time as long as its somewhat reasonable. I know they are always busy and that there is a wait time. But nothing of mine is really rushed because I usually plan way ahead of time anyway. I haven't been there in a while but when my motor needs to be refreshed that's where I'll take it. Plus they cool peeps!!
