MY 89 5.0 GOT BROKEN INTO...
SO THEY YANKED OUT MY SPARK PLUG WIRES, AND DISTRIBUTOR CAP WAS CRACKED IN THE MIDDLE.
I THEN REPLACED THE WIRES, AND THE DISTRIBUTOR CAP.. TRIED FIRING IT UP AND IT WONT START.
THERES ONLY A CLICKING SOUND WHEN I TURN THE IGNITION, BUT IT WONT START, THOUGHT MY BATTERY WAS DEAD, SO I USED JUMPER CABLES.
NOW THERES A WINDING SOUND FOR A SECOND, BUT THEN NO START. HAVE TO TURN THE KEYS ALL THE WAY BACK OFF, AND THEN TRY AGAIN, BUT THEN NOTHING, JUST CLICKING. THEN THE LIGHTS GO DIM.
WHAT DO I NEED TO DO NEXT? DOES ANYONE HAVE AN IDEA OF WHAT'S WRONG?
THANKS, EVERY IDEA HELPS

Check all of your battery cables, grounds, etc. Also, have your battery tested. You might want to double check and see that you put your plug wires on the correct firing order although it does not sound like that is your problem.
Did they mess with the ignition switch?

The clicking is the battery but if you can hear it spinning somethign spinning then it could be the starter. First get the batter tested and check all the cable.

do the basics...check if u have fuel or spark and go from there. chances are if u have a spark issue, it could be the tfi or distributor stator. this is a very common issue with our cars.

Try push starting it and see what happens. If it starts then you can look into the starter system.
